Yohji the Hedgehog and Nupka the Dog
We found a hedgehog who came and stayed with us for a day. His name is Yohji. Yohji ate his weight in dog food, drank some milk and escaped in the night. We found him today in a computer box crushed by some other box. Luckily he was okay. We then took him out to the garden and released him. He was a nice hedgehog. Nupka and Yohji got along really well.
Cold Noodles, Fruit, Beef, and Horse Meat Sausage!
Ashlyam-fu is a cold, vinegary noodle dish topped with starch jelly, fried eggs, and chives. You can make it as spicy or as mild as you want. Ashlyam-fu is a popular summer dish.
Bread and fruit at Dasmia Restaurant. A lot of people say that Dasmia has the best traditional Kyrgyz food in the city.
Spicy beef at a roadside cafe.
Horse meat sausage! A Kyrgyz delicacy.
Shashlyk Barbecue, Blackcurrants, and Nupka!
We made Shashlyk the other day on mangal grills that we bought at the Beta Stores. It was fun and really smokey.
Last week my brother returned from Issyk-Kul resort area. On his way back he bought buckets of blackcurrants for us to make jam with. Issyk-Kul is know for its apricots and blackcurrants. On the road to Bishkek a lot of people sell their fruits along the road.
Cleaning blackcurrants was fun for the first two hours. It took us two days to clean all of the berries!
Nupka sleeping under the table! He has been gaining a lot of weight.
